The Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos has officially renamed the well-known Charly Boy Bus Stop to Baddo Bus Stop, in tribute to indigenous rapper and music mogul, Olamide Adedeji.
The council chairman, Kolade Alabi David, made the announcement on Friday during the commissioning of new infrastructural projects across the area. He also revealed that Ajidagan Street has been renamed Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street, leading to the automatic renaming of the adjacent bus stop.
“Ajidagan Street will now be called Olamide Adedeji Baddo Street. That means Charly Boy Bus Stop will now be called Baddo Bus Stop—no more Charly Boy,” he stated.
The bus stop was originally named after eccentric entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy.
Several other streets were also renamed in honour of notable figures:
- Ilaje Road now bears the name of juju legend King Sunny Ade.
- Ifeanyi Street is now named after musician 9ice.
- Community Road, Akoka becomes Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road.
- Bariga Road is now Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.
- Ayodele Street has been renamed Tony Tetuila Street.
