Popular relationship coach and social media personality Blessing Okoro, also known as Blessing CEO, has opened up on why some men perceive successful women as a threat in marriages.
In a recent interview, the outspoken mother of two addressed complaints from women who say their husbands begin to feel insecure once they start to succeed financially.
According to Blessing, the issue isn’t the success itself, but rather the masculine energy that may accompany it.
“No man is intimidated by your success,” she said. “They are only afraid of the masculinity that comes with success.”
She explained that when a woman becomes financially independent and begins to provide, she may—often unknowingly—start to adopt traits typically associated with men, such as dominance, control, and authority.
“Once you can provide, you automatically become a man,” she added. “You will see yourself subconsciously dragging might. Because at the end of the day, what makes a man powerful is the ability to provide. That is what gives him that mantle.”
Advice to High-Earning Women
Blessing CEO advised successful women to remain soft and feminine, even when they earn more than their husbands. She warned that showing off financial power in a relationship could damage emotional dynamics and lead to infidelity or separation.
“No matter how much you have, just remember to be soft. Remember that you are a woman,” she emphasized.
“Once you start to show your husband that might — saying, ‘Oh, my salary is bigger’ — he will do everything. Either he starts to cheat and look for a woman that is softer, or he leaves the marriage.”
