BREAKING: Dele Momodu Resigns from PDP, Joins ADC, Cites Hijacking by Antidemocratic Forces

Dele Momodu Declares Loss of Faith in PDP

Veteran journalist and media mogul Chief Dele Momodu has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the takeover of the party by what he described as “antidemocratic forces.”

In a resignation letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area, Edo State, Momodu stated that his decision took effect immediately.

“My reason is simple and straightforward,” the letter stated. “Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight. It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while the majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”

Momodu, a former presidential aspirant under the PDP and publisher of Ovation International, expressed appreciation to the party’s grassroots leadership for their unwavering support over the years.

His defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) marks a major political shift in Edo State and contributes to the wider wave of realignments building momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Having joined the PDP in 2021, Chief Momodu had been a vocal contributor to national discourse and internal party dialogue. His departure adds to the growing list of high-profile exits amid internal tensions and dissatisfaction with the party’s direction.
