“Empathy Should Prevail” – Sonia Ighalo Criticizes Nigerians for Celebrating Buhari’s Death

Sonia Ighalo Criticizes Nigerians for Celebrating Buhari’s Death

Sonia Ighalo, ex-wife of Nigerian footballer Jude Ighalo, has called out Nigerians who are publicly celebrating the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a post shared via her Instagram Stories, Sonia expressed disappointment over the lack of empathy shown by some citizens. She acknowledged that while criticism of Buhari’s leadership is valid, rejoicing over his death is insensitive and inhumane.

“Nigerians seem to lack empathy. This is someone’s father, husband, uncle, and son,” she wrote.

“Must you all display your caprine tendencies even when calamity befalls? While criticisms of his leadership are valid, celebrating his death misses our shared humanity.

Death is the final chapter we ALL must face, and in that reality, empathy should always prevail.”

Sonia’s comments come amid widespread mixed reactions online following the former president’s passing in London at the age of 82.
