Afrobeats superstar Davido, son of Nigerian billionaire Adedeji Adeleke, has fired back at critics who frequently troll him for his affluent background and access to private jets.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the “Unavailable” crooner sarcastically announced that in his next life, he would return as a vulcaniser—a lighthearted jab at those downplaying his accomplishments due to his privileged upbringing.
“This free jet wey I dey fly all around the world dey really pain una. I’m sorry it’s my birth right. In my next life, I go come back as vulcaniser. Ma binu,” Davido wrote.
The comment came after a wave of online backlash accusing the artist of flaunting his father’s wealth. However, Davido appeared unfazed, asserting that his lifestyle is simply a product of his birthright.
This isn’t the first time the DMW boss has addressed resentment in the industry. He has previously stated that many people dislike him not for his music but because he hails from a wealthy family.
Despite the criticisms, Davido continues to dominate the Afrobeats scene both locally and internationally, with a loyal fan base and numerous accolades to his name.
