British-Nigerian Artist Darkoo Opens Up About Motherhood Plans, Says She Won’t Carry Baby Herself

British-Nigerian rapper and singer Oluwafisayo Isa, popularly known as Darkoo, has revealed her desire to have children—but with one condition: she doesn’t want to carry the baby herself.

In a candid interview on the Madame Joyce show, the Favourite Girl hitmaker shared that she envisions herself as a great mother but would prefer her partner to go through the pregnancy.

“I’m at a phase in my life when I’m thinking about having kids. I feel like I would be a great mom, but I don’t want to carry the baby in my womb. My partner is going to carry it,” she said.

Darkoo, who came out as gay publicly some years ago, emphasized that motherhood isn’t only about biological ties but about nurturing and showing genuine love and care for a child.

The queer artist also reflected on the emotional relief she felt after opening up to her family about her sexuality. In a 2024 interview, she revealed that speaking honestly with her mother about her identity brought her a sense of freedom and happiness.

“I’ve been happier since opening up to my mom about my sexuality,” she said.

Darkoo’s openness about her personal journey and future plans has sparked conversations about alternative paths to motherhood and LGBTQ+ visibility in African communities.
