Viktor Gyokeres Threatens to Strike Over Broken Transfer Promise at Sporting

Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres has revealed his strong desire to return to the English Premier League, but this time with a point to prove — and only Arsenal is on his mind.

The Swedish forward, who is now at the center of a prolonged transfer saga between Sporting and Arsenal, spoke candidly about his frustrating stint at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he failed to make a single Premier League appearance between 2018 and 2021.

In a recent interview with L’Équipé, Gyökeres expressed his determination to make a triumphant return:

“Premier League? I spent several years there without being able to play a single match. So, of course, it’s something I’d like to do.
It would be great revenge!”

Arsenal Move “Only Solution” for Gyökeres

Sources close to the negotiations indicate that Gyökeres has agreed to a five-year contract with Arsenal and has closed the door to other options, waiting for both clubs to finalize the transfer fee. The deal reportedly stalled due to valuation disagreements, but talks are ongoing behind the scenes.

Arsenal have made the 26-year-old their top priority for the striker role, having moved on from their interest in Benjamin Šeško, who recently committed his future to RB Leipzig.

Gyökeres has enjoyed a sensational season at Sporting, where his goal-scoring form and physical style have drawn widespread praise. His hunger to return to England — this time as a key player — could soon fuel a new chapter in North London.

“I only think about scoring and winning. It changes everything,” he said, reinforcing his readiness for the Premier League spotlight.

Arsenal fans now await the official breakthrough that could bring Gyökeres to the Emirates — and allow him to write his own Premier League redemption story.
