Air Peace has confirmed that one of its aircraft operating Flight P47190 from Lagos to Port Harcourt experienced a minor runway excursion upon landing at Port Harcourt International Airport on Sunday morning.
In an official statement signed by the airline’s spokesperson, Osifo-whiskey Efe, the airline clarified that the aircraft “veered slightly off the runway without any damage” after it had already landed safely.
“Air Peace confirms that its Flight P47190, operating from Lagos to Port Harcourt this morning, had a runway excursion after landing safely at the Port Harcourt International Airport,” the statement read.
The airline emphasized that all passengers disembarked safely and calmly, with no injuries reported. It also reiterated its commitment to safety and operational standards:
“We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”
This marks the second notable incident involving the airline in recent months. On May 11, an Air Peace flight was temporarily grounded at the Asaba International Airport in Delta State after colliding with a large antelope while taxiing. The animal was killed instantly, and the aircraft was rendered inoperable for a period, leading to flight disruptions.
Following that event, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), clarified that while such incidents may be out of the airline’s control, carriers remain responsible for upholding passenger safety and rights.
Despite these occurrences, Air Peace continues to position itself as one of Nigeria’s leading domestic carriers, consistently emphasizing its dedication to passenger safety and regulatory compliance.
