Popular Nigerian clergyman Reverend Kesiena Esiri has sparked heated online discussions after questioning the salvation of award-winning singer Tiwa Savage.
In a video posted to social media, Rev Esiri expressed doubts about the singer’s eligibility for heaven, citing her lifestyle and fashion choices, which he claims promote immorality.
“When we get to heaven, what will be your excuse?” he asked.
“In a nation as free as this, many of us are still asking questions like, ‘So God, a loving God, will send somebody like Tiwa Savage to hellfire?’ Wait first, wait first.”
He went on to criticize the singer’s public image:
“Somebody who thinks that her life’s assignment is to be dressing half n3ked, promoting immorality and lust — and you think that God is man, that will just make excuses?”
Rev Esiri’s comments have since sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some supporting his stance while others accuse him of being judgmental and misrepresenting Christian values of grace and redemption.
Tiwa Savage has not yet responded publicly to the pastor’s remarks.
