The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of popular social commentator Scott Iguma, known for his outspoken criticism of alleged fraudulent practices in the real estate sector.
In a statement released on the morning of Wednesday, July 17, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that Iguma is scheduled to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi the same day.
“Scott Iguma will be arraigned on a 10-count charge at the Federal High Court Ikoyi this morning, July 17, 2025,” the police statement read.
While the police did not disclose the specific details of the charges, sources say the arrest may be linked to his public allegations against a real estate company, which he accused of fraudulent dealings.
Iguma was reportedly arrested on Tuesday, July 16, sparking concerns among his followers and activists on social media.
Shortly after his arrest, a message was posted to his Instagram page by his allies, alleging that he was picked up on the orders of a real estate firm due to comments he made exposing their alleged activities.
Scott Iguma has gained online attention for his relentless efforts to call out land fraud, developer malpractice, and real estate scams, often urging Nigerians to verify claims before purchasing property.
As of the time of this report, full details of the charges remain unclear, but public interest in the case continues to grow, with many calling for transparency and fair hearing.
