Barcelona’s 18-year-old midfield talent Marc Bernal is back in action after recovering from a serious ACL injury that cut short his promising debut campaign last season. Now fully fit, the La Masia graduate is turning heads once again — this time in the summer transfer market.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Roma have expressed a strong interest in signing Bernal. The Italian giants, now managed by Gian Piero Gasperini, are seeking reinforcements in midfield and have identified the Spanish teenager as a potential target. Reports claim that initial contact has already been made between the two clubs to explore a possible deal.
Real Betis are also believed to be monitoring Bernal’s situation, hoping to secure a domestic swoop for the highly rated youngster.
However, despite growing interest from Italy and within Spain, Barcelona have no intention of selling Bernal. The club sees him as a vital part of Hansi Flick’s plans, with the player already agreeing to terms on a new long-term contract — pending official signing.
Bernal’s performances in pre-season last summer were nothing short of sensational, quickly earning him a spot in the first-team setup. Unfortunately, an ACL injury in just his third official appearance ended his season prematurely. After a lengthy period of rehabilitation, he is now ready to make his mark again at the highest level.
With his technical quality, composure on the ball, and tactical intelligence, Bernal is viewed as one of La Masia’s brightest prospects in recent years. Barring any surprises, he is expected to remain at Camp Nou and play a pivotal role as Barcelona prepares for a new era under Flick.
