“I’m Not a Criminal” — Sunday Igboho Urges FG to Clear His Name, Seeks Royal Support from Olugbon

Sunday Igboho’s lawyer demands N500m compensation and apology from FG

Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has appealed to the Federal Government of Nigeria to remove his name from its wanted list, stating that he is not a criminal and deserves full reintegration into his homeland.

Igboho made the passionate plea on Tuesday during a visit to the palace of the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, in Oyo State.

“I Want to Be Free in My Fatherland”

Speaking at the palace, Igboho lamented his continued designation as a wanted man, despite his efforts to safeguard the Yoruba people and agitate for their rights.

“I am not happy that I am not free in my own fatherland,” Igboho said.
“I want the Federal Government to remove my name from the wanted list because I am not a criminal. A lot of people are threatening to kill me; I cannot sleep in my house.”

He also disclosed that when he attempted to renew his passport at the Nigerian Embassy in Germany, he was informed that his name was still on the FG’s wanted list.

“I just want to be free. The security situation in the South West is alarming and demands urgent attention.”

Calls for Improved Southwest Security

Igboho urged the Federal Government to appoint competent individuals to oversee regional security, warning that the insecurity in the South West must be treated with urgency.

“If they cannot let me handle it, they should assign it to someone capable, and we will give our full support.”

Olugbon Backs Igboho, Urges Tinubu to Pardon Him

In response, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, described Sunday Igboho as a “true patriot” whose activism helped pave the way for the emergence of a Yoruba president, President Bola Tinubu.

“You are not a criminal. Your efforts played a role in the emergence of a Yoruba president. I appeal to President Bola Tinubu to pardon you and fully restore your rights.”

Oba Alao pledged to engage other traditional rulers and stakeholders, including the Alaafin of Oyo, to secure Igboho’s total freedom and return to Nigeria.

“Enough of your time abroad—we need you back home.”

Recommends Igboho for Regional Security Leadership

Oba Alao further recommended Sunday Igboho for a leadership role in Southwest security, citing his proven passion and capacity to protect Yoruba interests.

“The Federal Government may have its national security plans, but for the South West, I recommend Sunday Igboho. He has demonstrated the capacity. I will send a formal recommendation to the governors and to President Tinubu within 48 hours.”

“Tinubu Will Complete Eight Years” — Olugbon

The monarch concluded by expressing confidence in the continuation of Yoruba leadership at the national level.

“Tinubu will complete his eight years. A Yoruba man will be in the presidency until 2031.”
