The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a 25-day critical maintenance exercise on the Omotosho to Ikeja West 330kV transmission line, beginning today, July 28, 2025, and scheduled to run until August 21, 2025.
In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, TCN announced that the exercise, approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the National Independent System Operator, will run daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The upgrade involves the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) fibre cable, designed to enhance the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for improved real-time grid monitoring and management.
Key Impacts:
-
Intermittent power supply and load shedding are expected across Lagos and other affected areas.
-
Power will be restored at the end of each workday.
-
Other circuits will remain active to maintain supply during the maintenance window.
Both Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric have issued notices to customers, apologizing for the inconvenience and confirming the disruption.
