President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Kano State to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman and renowned businessman, Aminu Dantata, who passed away in June.
The presidential aircraft touched down at the Aminu Kano International Airport around 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Tinubu was warmly received by top government officials, including representatives of Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as well as other dignitaries.
According to Sunusi Bature, spokesperson to Governor Yusuf, the President’s visit is to commiserate with the Dantata family and the people of Kano over the loss of the respected industrialist and philanthropist.
Aminu Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s business landscape, with significant investments spanning real estate, agriculture, and commerce.
He was also widely recognized for his charitable contributions to education and healthcare in Northern Nigeria.
He was the uncle of billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, and one of the last surviving members of the historic Dantata family that helped lay the foundation of Nigeria’s modern commercial enterprise.
President Tinubu’s visit underscores the national importance of Dantata’s legacy and his long-standing contributions to Nigeria’s economic and social development.
