Nigerian music icon Tiwa Savage is celebrating a major milestone — the 12th anniversary of her debut album, Once Upon A Time.

The singer took to social media to share an emotional message reflecting on how the project marked the start of a transformative journey in her career.

“Wow… My debut album Once Upon A Time turns 12 years already?? 🥹 This album was the beginning of so many milestones for me. It’s actually very emotional for me but I’m so grateful to God, and to every single person that’s stood by me since day one.”

Released in 2013, Once Upon A Time introduced Tiwa Savage to the mainstream as a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter, delivering hits like “Kele Kele Love” and “Eminado.” The album set the tone for what would become a trailblazing career that helped shape modern Afrobeats and inspired a generation of female artists.

In her heartfelt post, Tiwa Savage noted that the album was deeply personal — a true labor of love — and she’s now coming full circle with her upcoming release.

“I poured my heart into it and now, 12 years later, I’m still here, still standing and ready to release another iconic body of work. A project that’s raw, heartfelt, creating something I’ve always wanted to create not influenced by streams or trends, just like my first album.”

Hinting at a return to her roots, Tiwa assured fans that her next chapter will be just as authentic and powerful, if not more.

“This journey has come full circle. Thank you to my amazing soldiers for riding with me. Still feels like the beginning, maybe because the best is still yet to come.”

Fans have already started buzzing in anticipation of what she’ll deliver next. With her passion still burning strong and a renewed focus on heartfelt creativity, Tiwa Savage is proving once again why she remains a queen in the world of African music.
