Media mogul and politician Dele Momodu has said President Bola Tinubu’s support is the reason FCT Minister Nyesom Wike appears politically untouchable, despite widespread criticism and intra-party backlash.
Speaking during an appearance on Arise TV on Wednesday night, Momodu also stated that Wike’s refusal to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) proves that he thrives more on dominance within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) than in subordinate roles elsewhere.
“If Wike has the guts, he should join the APC. The other day, Tinubu told him he is welcome to join, but he can’t. For him, it is better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven,” Momodu said.
He attributed Wike’s ongoing resentment to his failure to clinch either the presidential or vice-presidential ticket of the PDP in the 2023 general election:
“Just because Wike lost the presidential and VP bids, he has become inconsolable. He cannot forgive. He has this anger.”
Momodu’s comments come amid heightened political tension following Wike’s criticism of the newly formed opposition coalition and internal PDP leadership dynamics.
