2027: “My focus is on a better Nigeria, not president at all costs” – Atiku

BREAKING: Atiku announces his resignation from PDP

Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that his priority remains building a better Nigeria rather than pursuing the presidency at all costs.

Abubakar made this known on Saturday in Lagos during an affirmation ceremony where new defectors, including PDP and LP chieftains, officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He was represented at the event by Prof. Ola Olateju of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State.

The former PDP leader, who recently left the party along with other opposition figures to join the ADC, described the coalition as more of a national movement than just a political party.

“Atiku Abubakar’s plan is to build a better Nigeria. So, it’s not about him being the president. It’s about having a better government that will be able to deliver for Nigerians,” Olateju said on his behalf.

He stressed that the ADC was charting a new direction for the country, describing the coalition as a “new beginning” in response to economic hardship, subsidy removal, and inflation.

Abubakar emphasized that leadership within the ADC would not be imposed, noting that the party’s 2027 presidential candidate would emerge through a transparent and fair process.

“The point is a better Nigeria, not Atiku for president at all costs, not Obi for president at all costs. Whoever picks the ticket shall represent the collective voice and aspiration of Nigeria,” he remarked.

He urged Nigerians to support the coalition, expressing optimism that with unity and divine guidance, the ADC could provide competent, compassionate leadership capable of steering the country toward prosperity.
