Atiku Denies Withdrawing from 2027 Presidential Race

“Cheap Talk” - Presidency Dismisses Atiku’s Hunger Warning

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports claiming he has stepped aside from the 2027 presidential race, describing them as false and misleading.

Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, was alleged in some reports to have withdrawn in favour of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s flagbearer in 2023. The reports also claimed Atiku supported a one-term presidency for Obi to promote regional balance.

Reacting to the claim, the former Vice Presiddent media adviser, Paul Ibe, firmly debunked the story. In a post on his verified X account on Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the report and wrote: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”

The denial comes amid fresh political realignments, with reports suggesting that Peter Obi is planning to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
