Barcelona have reinstated goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen as the team’s captain, just days after stripping him of the role.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the German shot-stopper has been handed back the armband with immediate effect. The club confirmed:
“Ter Stegen has signed the authorization for the Club’s medical services to process the medical report to LaLiga.”
This comes after Barcelona officially announced on Tuesday that the goalkeeper had been removed from the captaincy following disciplinary proceedings. At the time, the club stated that vice-captain Ronald Araujo would take over leadership duties.
The swift reversal means he resumes his role as first-team captain, bringing a quick end to the brief change in Barcelona’s leadership structure.
