Nigeria no longer produces enough breakout artists – Magixx

Magixx Net Worth, Biography and Music Career (2021)

Nigerian singer Magixx has stirred conversation online after accusing streaming farms of limiting the emergence of new talents in the music industry.

Taking to his X account, the Mavin Records act alleged that many top spots on music charts, particularly Apple Music, are being artificially manipulated—leaving little room for upcoming artists to thrive.

“Just so y’all know, the reason why we don’t have enough breakout artists these days is because almost every spot on Apple Music is bought!” he wrote.

This isn’t the first time the Nigerian music scene has been rocked by allegations of streaming fraud. Accusations of artists using bots or automated systems to inflate streams continue to generate controversy—despite some industry leaders denying the practice.

Notably, last year Magixx’s label boss, Don Jazzy, dismissed the notion that Mavin Records engages in such practices. He also questioned the existence of streaming farms entirely, insisting that even if they did exist, he would never rely on them.

Magixx’s latest claims have reignited industry debate, with fans and insiders divided on whether the charts are truly a reflection of popularity—or a product of digital manipulation.
