Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s rumored romance has reportedly “cooled off” as their busy schedules and media attention take a toll.
The pair, who sparked dating speculation last month after being spotted on an intimate dinner date in Montreal, fueled further buzz when Trudeau was seen at Perry’s sold-out Lifetimes tour stop in Canada. But according to a new report from the Daily Mail, their once-frequent communication has slowed in recent weeks.
“She’s busy, he’s busy,” an insider told the outlet, adding that the two were previously texting “nonstop” in July. “They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off. But there’s nothing negative about it — they just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it has cooled off.”
Sources also revealed that Trudeau, 53, was uneasy with the spotlight that came with being linked to the pop superstar, especially after photos from their dinner date circulated widely. “I know for a fact that Justin wasn’t thrilled about the pictures getting out. It was a first date! And it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted,” a source said.
Another insider noted that Perry, 40, is still healing from her recent split with Orlando Bloom and isn’t ready to jump into a serious relationship. “She isn’t ready to start dating anyone right now, she has to continue to focus on her healing,” the source explained.
Despite the cooling rumors, those close to the duo insist they had an “instant connection” and remain interested in each other. Whether their friendship will grow into something more remains to be seen.
