Katy Perry Leads On-Stage Prayer After Fan Faints During Concert

Katy Perry paused her concert in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday night to lead a prayer for a young fan who collapsed onstage during an emotional moment.

While performing on her ongoing Lifetimes Tour, the pop star invited fans onstage to sing her hit ballad “The One That Got Away.” Among those selected was a girl named McKenna, who made her way up from the upper seats with her friend. Overcome with emotion, McKenna hugged Perry, but fainted moments later before the performance could begin.

Witnesses say Perry immediately knelt beside McKenna as venue medics rushed to assist. The fan was then escorted offstage for treatment.

In a heartfelt response, the Firework singer pulled the remaining fans into a group hug and led a prayer:

“Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen.”

Katy Perry, 40, empathised with the overwhelming nature of the moment:

“Sometimes you’re so brave, and you get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling.”

Later in the concert, she reassured the audience, saying:
“McKenna’s doing great, by the way.”

Katy Perry launched the Lifetimes Tour in April and is scheduled to perform next in Toronto, Canada on Tuesday, with the tour running through December 7.
