Singer Kelly Clarkson has announced a break from performing to focus on her family, citing her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s ongoing illness.
In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Clarkson revealed that she is postponing the rest of her August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas to be fully present for their children.
“Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,” she wrote.
She explained her decision further:
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Kelly Clarkson was married to Brandon Blackstock for seven years before filing for divorce in 2020. Their separation was finalized two years later.
Following the divorce, Blackstock left the music industry and transitioned into a new life as a full-time rancher and rodeo host, running his own cattle ranch.
Earlier in March 2025, Clarkson also took an unexpected break from her daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, to handle a “private matter.” She was reportedly absent for nearly half of the month.
Clarkson’s fans and supporters have since expressed empathy and support across social media, praising her for prioritizing family during a difficult time.
