Keyamo Blasts Release of Indecent Ibom Air Footage, Orders Probe and Sanctions

Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has condemned the circulation of indecent video footage showing Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the centre of the recent Ibom Air incident.

In a strongly worded statement, Keyamo described the public release of the clip as “totally unacceptable” and directed that any staff member responsible for leaking it be identified and sanctioned.

He stressed that while recording unruly behaviour for legal evidence is permitted, exposing indecent content to ridicule a passenger “debases womanhood” and would not be tolerated.

The minister also revealed that Emmanson has been handed an indefinite flight ban by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for both local and international travel. She was arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrates Court on criminal charges and remanded at Kirikiri Prison after failing to provide adequate sureties.

Keyamo further ordered a joint security meeting next week to improve coordination among relevant agencies during passenger-related crises and urged airlines to prioritise staff training in public relations and conflict management.

“For genuinely aggrieved passengers, there are laid-down remedies,” he reminded, warning against taking the law into one’s own hands.
