Atalanta CEO Antonio Percassi has confirmed that Ademola Lookman may leave the club this summer — but only to a “super top club” outside Italy.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the update on Monday, quoting Percassi:
“The pact with Lookman was made one year ago when we rejected €20m from PSG. We told him: we’ll let you leave in 2025 for a super top club and not in Italy. Now, the situation [with Inter] is different… and as always, it’s us deciding.”
Percassi’s comments come amid rising tension after Lookman submitted a formal transfer request, accusing the Serie A side of backtracking on promises.
In a public statement, the Nigerian international expressed frustration over what he described as “many months of broken promises” and poor treatment by the club.
“I’ve given absolutely everything. Not just as a footballer, but as a person,” the 27-year-old said.
“I’ve always worn the shirt with pride and tried to represent this club and the city of Bergamo with heart, passion, and dedication.”
Lookman played a crucial role in Atalanta’s 2023/24 UEFA Europa League triumph, cementing his place as one of the club’s standout performers.
While Inter Milan has shown interest, Percassi’s stance makes it clear: any move within Italy is off the table, with Atalanta holding firm on their conditions.
