Michail Antonio’s decade-long spell at West Ham United has officially come to an end, with the club confirming they will not be offering the 35-year-old forward a new contract.
Antonio, who joined West Ham in 2015 from Nottingham Forest, made 323 appearances and scored 83 goals, becoming the club’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League.
The decision follows a difficult period for the Jamaica international, who has not featured since suffering a serious leg injury in a car accident in December 2024. Despite expressing a desire to return to professional football, his next chapter will not be at the London Stadium.
In an official statement, West Ham praised Antonio’s contributions both on and off the pitch:
“Michail will always be a much-loved and respected member of the West Ham United family. As has been the case since December, the club will continue to support and assist him in his ongoing rehabilitation, offering him access to training, facilities and medical care if needed.”
The club also revealed that discussions are ongoing about a potential non-playing role for Antonio, allowing him to remain connected to the club in a new capacity.
Antonio played a key role in West Ham’s Europa Conference League triumph in 2023, helping the Hammers to their first major trophy since 1980.
“Everyone at West Ham United would like to sincerely thank Michail for his outstanding, dedicated service in a claret and blue shirt over the last ten years,” the statement added.
