Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the prestigious 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, the Ballon d’Or award recognizing the best female goalkeeper in the world.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper, who recently completed a high-profile move from Paris FC to Brighton Women FC, has had an outstanding year at both club and international levels.
Nnadozie was the hero of Paris FC’s 2025 Coupe de France Féminine triumph — the club’s first major title in nearly 20 years. She made crucial saves during the final and helped her team clinch a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win over Paris Saint-Germain after a goalless draw at the Stade de l’Épopée in Calais.
Her form carried into the international stage, where she played a key role in Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Super Falcons lifted a record-extending 10th continental title after edging host nation Morocco, with Nnadozie keeping multiple clean sheets throughout the tournament.
Her stellar performances earned her the Best Goalkeeper award and a place in the Team of the Tournament, solidifying her reputation as one of the world’s top goalkeepers.
Joining her on the 2025 Yachine Trophy shortlist are:
-
Ann-Katrin Berger (Gotham FC, USA)
-
Cata Coll (Barcelona Femeni, Spain)
-
Hannah Hampton (Chelsea Women, England)
-
Daphne van Domselaar (Arsenal Women, England)
The nomination marks another milestone in Nnadozie’s impressive career trajectory and further cements her place as a global ambassador for African women’s football.
