Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has described her nomination for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or as nothing short of a miracle.
The 24-year-old shot stopper made history as the first African female goalkeeper to earn a nomination for the prestigious award.
Nnadozie’s recognition comes after a stellar season with her former club, Paris FC, and the Nigerian women’s national team. She played a key role in helping Paris FC clinch the Coupe de France Féminine before leaving the club in May.
On the international stage, she was instrumental in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Super Falcons lifted a record-extending 10th continental title. Her outstanding performances earned her the Best Goalkeeper award at the tournament.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Nnadozie said:
“It is a miracle for me. It shows that all the hard work, dedication and everything I’ve been doing in the past has been worth it.”
