The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary suspension of access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results due to the discovery of technical glitches.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, and signed by Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs, the council said it is conducting a comprehensive review of the recently released results.
According to the examination body, the decision was taken after identifying bugs and technical errors—particularly during the paper serialization process on key subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.
“The review became necessary following the discovery of some glitches and bugs. WAEC is currently undertaking an urgent system-wide audit and result validation,” the statement read.
As a result, access to the result checking portal has been temporarily restricted, with candidates unable to view their scores for the time being.
WAEC has advised all candidates who have previously checked their results to recheck them after 24 hours, starting from Thursday, August 7, 2025, once corrections have been made.
The council assured stakeholders that the technical issues are being resolved swiftly and urged for calm and patience from candidates, schools, and guardians.
