NCAA Extends Kwam 1’s Travel Ban Indefinitely as Airport Incident Probe Deepens

Nigerians in London set to allegedly protest over Kwam1’s performance at a top fabric merchant event

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that the travel restrictions placed on Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, will remain in force indefinitely while investigations into his recent airport run-in continue.

The extension follows a directive from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who had initially ordered a six-month no-fly period for the singer on August 7, 2025. According to NCAA spokesperson Mike Achimugu, the probe has no fixed end date and will only conclude once “all facts are thoroughly examined.”

The incident at the centre of the case allegedly occurred at a VIP lounge, where Kwam 1 obtained a bottle of water after passing through security. A second check before boarding flagged the liquid, but reports claim the Fuji star ignored instructions to leave it behind and proceeded towards the aircraft.

Security operatives escorted him to the plane, where a tense exchange with the pilot reportedly ended with water splashing on the pilot. The pilot then withdrew into the cockpit and shut the aircraft door.

Achimugu stressed that these accounts stem from preliminary findings, adding that such incidents are “rarely straightforward.” The NCAA has involved top legal offices, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police, to ensure a comprehensive review.

The final report will be made public once the investigation is complete.
