National Leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has revealed that the party is open to discussions with other political parties, individuals, or coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the NNPP National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, the former Kano State Governor clarified that while the party is willing to engage, it is “not in a hurry” to enter into any agreement.
“There was fake news recently, but at this meeting, we are going to take critical decisions, and so many people were excited to come and hear what that information is,” Kwankwaso said.
“Now actually, it wasn’t intended to say anything here, because in that direction, there is very little or nothing to say. I think that was not the intention of the meeting. We are ready to do whatever it takes, because we are not in a hurry.”
Kwankwaso stressed that any future negotiations or alliances would involve all party members collectively, not just a few individuals.
“We are ready to talk to anybody who wants us to work together for 2027, but the fact remains, this party is not my party, not the chairman’s party. It is for Nigerians. Everybody’s free to come in. And on the other hand, even though you don’t want anybody to leave, if somebody has to leave, what else can we do?” he added.
Meanwhile, the NEC also dissolved the executives of some state chapters of the party and appointed interim leaders, pending its convention to elect substantive officers.
