The Olubadan-In-Council has officially nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, following a meeting held on Monday at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The decision was announced by the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who confirmed that all members of the council had signed the resolution supporting Ladoja’s nomination.
“We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland,” Oba Ajibola stated.
He added that the council’s resolution would be submitted to Governor Seyi Makinde, who is responsible for choosing the date to formally present the Staff of Office to the new monarch.
“The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible,” he noted.
“The governor may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks, or one week for the coronation.”
Although Oba Rashidi Ladoja was not present at the meeting, his nomination marks a significant chapter in the history of Ibadanland, as he steps forward to succeed Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025.
