Rema’s Rave & Roses (Ultra) Becomes First African Album to Hit 3 Billion Streams on Spotify

Nigerian superstar Rema has smashed another record, as his debut album Rave & Roses (Ultra) becomes the first African project to surpass 3 billion streams on Spotify.

The milestone is largely powered by the global smash hit “Calm Down (Remix) featuring Selena Gomez, which alone has racked up over 2 billion streams across its versions. The remaining 20 tracks on the album collectively contributed just under a billion streams.

In the all-time African streaming charts, Rema is followed by South African singer Tyla, whose self-titled debut album has garnered over 2 billion streams.

Other African albums to cross the 1 billion mark include:

  • Burna Boy’s African Giant

  • Burna Boy’s Love, Damini

  • Wizkid’s Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition

  • CKay’s CKay the First

This milestone cements Rema’s position as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
