Renowned fashion designer Veekee James has opened up about the hurtful rumors that trailed her marriage and how she was able to overcome them with the support of her husband and faith in God.
In a recent interview with actress and media personality Nancy Isime, Veekee revealed that one of the most painful stories she came across was the claim that she “stole” her husband from a friend and that they had been secretly involved before marriage.
According to her, the false narratives nearly pushed her into depression.
“Something that really hit me was a story of how I stole him from a friend and how we were sleeping with each other. So many of these were all lies. It almost put me into depression. I remember being in my room for 2 days; I didn’t come out. I cried to God and told Him, ‘You know these stories are all lies. Help us get through this without it ruining my brand,’” she recounted.
Veekee James added that she eventually found strength in prayer and God’s intervention, describing the way she bounced back as nothing short of a miracle.
“After that, I would see countless stories and just laugh them off,” she said.
The designer, who is one of the most celebrated names in Nigeria’s fashion industry, emphasized that standing firm with her husband and trusting God helped them weather the storm of public scrutiny.
