Nigerian content creator and comedian Aloma Junior, popularly known as Zicsaloma, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of harassment and attempted extortion during routine checks for tinted glass permits in Lagos.
In a viral video shared on social media, the comedian lamented that he was unfairly profiled because he drives a Mercedes-Benz, alleging that youths with luxury cars are often stereotyped as being involved in fraud.
Zicsaloma recounted how he was stopped more than five times in a single day despite presenting a valid tinted glass permit issued by the police. According to him, officers repeatedly dismissed the permit as fake and attempted to extort money from him.
“I want to sell my Benz, not because I am broke, but because of the Nigerian Police,” he said. “How can you stop me more than five times in one day? I showed them my tinted permit from your website, yet they claimed it was fake.”
He narrated how one set of officers at Ajah allegedly tried to force him behind a police station before backing down when passersby recognized him as a popular comedian.
“It’s like they noticed people knew me and I might not be that scammer or yahoo boy they thought I was,” he explained.
The comedian added that the harassment continued at several other checkpoints the same day, including around Ajah Bridge and VGC, where officers demanded his car papers.
Expressing frustration, he said he is considering selling his Mercedes-Benz just to avoid repeated police harassment.
“Please, who wants my Benz? I am tired. The stopping is tiring and exhausting. That’s why I rarely drive it,” he concluded.
