2027: “Aligning With Tinubu Is a Waste of Time” – Rhodes-Vivour

Rhodes-Vivour

Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has declared that he will not align with President Bola Tinubu in his bid to become governor in 2027.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, Rhodes-Vivour described such an alignment as pointless. “I will rather go and focus on my business, my work, and my family. That [aligning with Tinubu] will be a complete waste of time.

“The reason why we are in politics is to make the lives of Lagosians better; it is to restore Lagos to its old glory — glory that a lot of people might not really be familiar with in terms of the history of Lagos, and the greatness that Lagos once was,” he said.

He further noted that any political platform that would not allow him to use the state’s resources for the benefit of its people would also be a “complete waste of time.”

Rhodes-Vivour, who recently defected from the Labour Party to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said his move was aimed at directly challenging the ruling party. He disclosed that Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, was aware of his decision.

According to him, Lagos would thrive if the influence of what he described as “agberocracry” was removed.
