Cardi B has etched her name in music history, becoming the first female rapper ever to see her first two studio albums debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, a feat sealed by the explosive success of her latest project, Am I The Drama?
The new album opened with 200,000 equivalent album units in its first week, according to Billboard, making it 2025’s strongest debut for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman.
Billboard celebrated the milestone in an Instagram announcement: “Cardi B scores her second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 as Am I The Drama? debuts atop the tally.
With 200,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S., it marks 2025’s biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop album by a woman.”
The achievement mirrors the success of her 2018 debut album Invasion of Privacy, which also launched at No. 1 and has since been certified triple platinum.
Industry experts point to a mix of heavy streaming numbers and strong physical sales—boosted by multiple CD and vinyl editions—as driving forces behind the album’s massive opening.
Beyond the charts, Cardi B also grabbed a Guinness World Record with a bold promotional stunt. She delivered 176 signed copies of her album via drone within one hour across the Dallas–Fort Worth area, setting a new mark for fastest mass album delivery by drone.
With Am I The Drama? dominating both charts and headlines, Cardi B continues to solidify her place as one of the most influential figures in hip-hop.
