Dangote Issues Strong Warning to Truck Operators Over Unauthorized Use of Company Logo

Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has warned truck operators across Nigeria to refrain from unauthorized use of its logo, stressing that this practice has caused serious reputational damage and embarrassment to the company.

In a statement, the conglomerate lamented that despite repeated notices, some truckers with no affiliation to Dangote continue to brand their vehicles with its logo for personal or undisclosed motives.

According to DIL, several vehicles falsely identified as Dangote-owned have been linked to road accidents and criminal activities, fueling negative publicity against the brand.

“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company warned.

Concerns Over Misinformation

Dangote further expressed concern over the spread of misinformation, especially media reports that automatically link accidents to its fleet without proper verification. The company condemned attempts to exploit tragic incidents for malicious or financial gain, describing the practice as unacceptable.

Dangote’s Fleet Operations

As one of Africa’s largest commercial truck operators, Dangote revealed that it runs over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, with more than 3,000 managed by third-party contractors. On a daily basis, the group deploys over 6,000 trucks to sustain logistics operations, supporting more than 36,000 jobs nationwide.

To ensure accountability, DIL noted that it maintains close cooperation with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory agencies to standardize and monitor operations.

“We maintain close cooperation with the FRSC and other regulatory bodies to standardise, monitor, train, and enhance our operational practices. Continuous internal audits enable us to identify gaps, adopt global best practices, and strengthen compliance across our fleet,” the company stated.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance stance, Dangote vowed to intensify monitoring in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and pursue legal action against offenders.
