Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reiterated that he will not abandon his tactical system, insisting that “not even the Pope” could persuade him to change.
The 40-year-old coach has come under pressure after sticking with a 3-4-2-1 formation, despite overseeing United’s worst start to a Premier League season in 33 years and recording the lowest win percentage of any Red Devils boss since World War II.
Asked if he had considered switching approaches, he was emphatic: “No, no, no. Not once [have I thought about changing]. Not even the Pope [can make me], it will not change.”
Amorim admitted he is more concerned about how his players would react to a sudden tactical shift than external criticism.
