Nigerian sprint sensation Favour Ofili has confirmed her switch of international allegiance to Turkey, ending months of speculation about her future.
The 22-year-old athlete made the announcement in a statement shared on her social media pages.
“Wrapping up my 2025 season has been a whirlwind of new experiences and big decisions. As some of you have heard, I’m also starting a new chapter representing Turkey,” She wrote.
Her decision is seen as a fallout of long-standing administrative lapses and alleged neglect by both the Nigerian Olympic Committee and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Ofili, who has been one of Nigeria’s brightest prospects on the global track stage, is expected to be eligible to compete for Turkey from 2027.
