Wife of Anambra State governor, Nonye Soludo, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Uche Ekwunife, over allegations of infidelity.
In a strongly worded statement on Saturday, Mrs Soludo denied claims that she was unfaithful to her husband, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, describing her 33-year marriage as one of “ironclad fidelity.”
Soludo’s Ultimatum
The Anambra First Lady challenged Ekwunife to:
-
Swear an oath of fidelity in a Catholic cathedral before the Blessed Sacrament.
-
Submit to DNA tests for all their children at three London hospitals, with all expenses covered by her.
She added:
“In my 55 years on planet earth, I have known only one man, Chukwuma Soludo. I married him as a virgin, and my fidelity to him for 33 years of marriage and for life is ironclad.”
Mrs Soludo further warned that failure to retract the allegations within 72 hours would result in legal action.
Ekwunife Responds
Responding in a separate statement, Uche Ekwunife dismissed the ultimatum, insisting that Soludo’s explanations were a private matter for her household.
“Mrs Soludo does not owe me any explanation regarding personal family matters. If my statement caused any discomfort to Mrs Soludo, she owes her husband an explanation, not me. Challenging me to undergo tests does not involve me, as I am not part of her family affairs,” she said.
Political Context
The clash follows a viral video in which Ekwunife alleged that Nonye Soludo had an affair with the late Anambra governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju, questioning the paternity of her children.
The controversy comes less than two months before the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 8, where Ekwunife is contesting as the APC deputy governorship candidate.
