Legendary Yoruba actress Lola Idije has bared her heart on the realities of being a single parent, describing it as one of the toughest battles a woman can face.
Speaking in a candid interview with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya, she explained that raising children alone without a partner’s support comes with endless challenges and heavy responsibilities.
The actress noted that from paying school fees to daily upkeep, single mothers often shoulder the burden alone, with little or no assistance. Even when family or friends promise to help, she said, many times those promises end in disappointment.
On relationships, Lola Idije criticized the unserious attitude of some men, revealing that a number of men approach women out of mere bets or peer pressure.
She lamented that many men perceive actresses in a disrespectful way, believing that with as little as ₦500,000, they can woo anyone in the industry.
She further advised women to be cautious with trust, stressing that betrayal often comes from the least expected places. According to her, it is especially painful when people who can afford to support single mothers choose instead to spend lavishly on personal pleasures.
Despite these struggles, Lola Idije commended the resilience of women who continue to push forward and sacrifice everything for the sake of their children.
