Television personality Minnie Dlamini has set the record straight following Kaya FM’s decision to terminate its contract with radio host Sol Phenduka.
Phenduka, who reportedly earned about R100,000 per month, was officially dismissed from the station’s breakfast show on Monday, September 1, 2025, after facing heavy backlash over derogatory remarks he made about Dlamini on MacG’s Podcast and Chill.
In a statement to News24, Dlamini clarified that she played no role in his dismissal.
“While I’m not involved in Kaya 959’s internal decisions, I do appreciate that institutions are recognising the seriousness of the derogatory remarks that were made,” she said.
Her response comes amid her ongoing legal battle against Phenduka and podcast host Mac G Mukwevho, where she is demanding R2.5 million in damages. The case, currently before the Equality Court, is based on allegations of hate speech, unfair discrimination, and gender-based harassment.
Confirming Phenduka’s exit, Kaya FM issued a strong statement distancing itself from the podcast controversy:
“Kaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG podcast, where Sol Phenduka is an integral part of the presenting team. Misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini were unacceptable and inconsistent with respect owed to women.”
