Mo’Nique is making it clear that she has no plans to end her long-running feud with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey.
The Oscar-winning actress and comedian has been outspoken about her issues with the Hollywood powerhouses since the release of Precious, the 2009 film that earned her an Academy Award.
She has repeatedly alleged that her refusal to promote the movie without additional compensation led to her being blacklisted, though the claims remain unsubstantiated.
During a recent Instagram Live session, Mo’Nique doubled down, insisting she won’t stop speaking out about Perry and Winfrey despite public pressure to move on.
Addressing her followers, she said:
“‘That’s why when people say, ‘Monique, when you gonna stop with Tyler and Oprah?’ I’m not. Just so we clear, I’m not. Because we’ve gotten so used to letting it go and moving on. Well, where does that come from? Let it go. That dates all the way back to slavery. ‘Just don’t say nothing. Just keep moving on.’ And that’s why we continue to be treated the way that we get treated.”
She went on to stress that her stance is not about bitterness but about standing up for what she believes is right.
“So for me, my babies, I won’t let go and I won’t move on from that. Doesn’t mean I’m bitter. I’m not angry. And I love my brother and sister or my sister and sister. Whatever Tyler chooses, whichever way he goes, I love all of them. However, wrong is wrong and right is right. And until we start standing on what is right, we will continue to be treated wrong. That’s just my humble opinion. That’s why.”
Mo’Nique’s comments come years after she first opened up about her rift with Perry and Winfrey. While the comedian has since returned to acting with projects such as Netflix’s My Name Is Mo’Nique and Lee Daniels’ The Deliverance, it’s clear she has no intention of letting go of her past grievances.
