Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has fired back at a troll who attempted to marriage-shame her, reminding critics that she is human like everyone else.
In a video shared on Instagram, the actress questioned why people feel entitled to attack her personal life simply because she is in the public eye.
“Is it okay for someone to come at you unprovoked? Marriage shame you. Child shame you. Just like that. Because you are a so-called celebrity. I’ve always said this. I’m not a celebrity, you know. I have got blood running through my veins. I am human just like you,” she said.
Nkechi further noted that her 2.6 million Instagram followers do not make her superhuman, adding that her life would not stop if she lost her account.
“The fact that I have 2.6 million followers does not make me a demigod. Mark can decide to take the page at any time. Will my life stop? Mbakwa now,” she stated.
She also addressed those who expect her to remain silent when attacked, stressing that she prefers to respond with equal energy.
“My darling, it is aura for aura. The only thing that keeps me sane is when I give you back what you dished to me. And then nobody sees what they say to you. They only see your reaction,” she said.
The actress went on to reveal a disturbing DM she once received from a troll who insulted her and mocked her marital status. According to Nkechi, she clapped back immediately:
“You give me, I give you, then everybody go dey okay. Then you now run kitikiti, katakata, you were crying because of just one line. But you, you write plenty now. Like I said, I’m not a celebrity. You bring rubbish to me, I give you rubbish back.”
