Qatar Embassy Dismisses Reports of Stricter Visa Rules for Nigerians

Algiers-Abuja direct flight service begins April 6

The Embassy of the State of Qatar in Nigeria has denied claims that it recently introduced stricter visa restrictions for Nigerians.

Speaking to BBC Pidgin on Wednesday, September 10, a Qatar ministry official clarified that there are no new rules preventing Nigerians from visiting the Gulf nation.

The rebuttal comes after viral reports alleged that Nigerians must now meet additional conditions before securing a visa, including:

  • Mandatory return transfer bookings

  • Hotel reservations

  • Restrictions limiting applications to only women or families

  • A supposed requirement to stay in a 5-star hotel
