President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lifted the state of emergency in Rivers State and ordered the reinstatement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the President directed the suspended governor to return to office on Thursday, September 18.
The directive also instructed Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to immediately resume their official duties.
The emergency rule had been in effect in the state for the past six months, following heightened political tensions and governance disruptions.
With the suspension lifted, normal democratic governance is expected to resume in Rivers State.
