Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has stirred controversy after claiming that America is now a better place for black people than Africa, despite the existence of racism in the United States.

The rapper made the statement during a recent interview with BET, where he compared the experiences of black people in both continents.

According to Odumodublvck, the level of injustice and oppression black people have suffered in Africa—often at the hands of fellow black leaders—far outweighs what they face in America.

He said:

“We cannot deny the fact that America is now a better place for black people. The things that black people have suffered in America is not compared to the things that black people have suffered in the hands of black people in Africa.”

His comment has since sparked mixed reactions on social media.

While some users criticized him for “downplaying the struggles of African Americans” and the ongoing issue of racism in the U.S., others agreed with his view, arguing that corruption, poor governance, and inequality in Africa make life even harder for black people on the continent.

Some commentators also cautioned that suffering should not be compared, noting that the experiences of black people differ significantly depending on their social and political environments.
