Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029, extending his previous deal which was due to expire in 2027.
The Belgian tactician, who took over in summer 2024, made an instant impact by guiding Bayern to Bundesliga glory in his debut season, reclaiming the title from Bayer Leverkusen. He also added another trophy to his cabinet in August 2025, lifting the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
“It feels like I’ve been here a lot longer and that I know the club well,” Kompany said in an official statement.
“It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started on a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate much more success!”
Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, praised Kompany’s influence both on and off the pitch, describing him as a unifying figure.
“I’m delighted about this extension. When we signed Vinny, we had a clear vision of our path together, and he’s quickly proved that he’s taking Bayern forward.
“He’s a figure of identification who unites the players, the fans, and everyone at the club. We want to create something long term with him,” Eberl stated.
Kompany’s tenure so far has been nothing short of impressive — Bayern are unbeaten this season, with 11 wins in 11 games across all competitions, sitting atop both the Bundesliga and Champions League tables.
Across 67 competitive matches in charge, Kompany has recorded 49 wins, nine draws, and nine defeats. His Bundesliga record stands at 32 wins, seven draws, and only two losses in 41 matches, averaging 2.51 points per game — a rate bettered only by Pep Guardiola (2.52) in league history.
The contract extension cements Kompany’s status as one of Europe’s most promising young managers and signals Bayern’s confidence in building a long-term project under his leadership.
