Nigerian comedian and media personality, Teju Oyelakin, popularly known as Teju Babyface, has advised fans never to confess cheating to their partners, describing it as a “disastrous mistake” in marriage.
In a video posted on his Instagram page, Teju Babyface argued that such confessions only serve the cheater’s interest, not the spouse’s.
“Never confess to cheating: The shocking truth! Everyone tells you to ‘come clean’ if you cheat. Even the Bible is misquoted to back that up. But let me be clear: confession is to God, not to your spouse,” he said.
The comedian explained that revealing infidelity is not an act of honesty but rather a way of transferring guilt and sabotaging the relationship.
“When you confess to them, it is not honesty, it is manipulation. You are just transferring your guilt and sabotaging your relationship. There is no benefit to them (your spouse). All the benefit is yours,” he added.
His comments have since sparked debate online, with many Nigerians sharing mixed reactions on whether transparency in marriage should extend to infidelity.
